We are pleased to invite you to the 1st Talk on Transitioning to Modern Energy in Cooking: Device Design and Innovation. The topic for the current Talk is “Device Design and Innovation”, it is focussed on the various aspect of Design and Innovation in the new age cooking devices and the vital role it plays in enabling the shift to clean cooking and also on efficiency, usability and consumer convenience.
The series is conducted by the MECS Programme through its In Country Partner in India, Finovista along with other stakeholders. Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme, a five-year initiative funded by UK Aid of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and led by Loughborough University and the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP). The MECS Programme aims to accelerate the global transition from traditional biomass-based cooking to modern-energy cooking solutions.
Transition to Modern Electric cooking, requires efficient cooking devices, both in terms of addressing the cooking needs, optimum price of the device and consumption of energy. India already has multiple companies engaged in manufacturing of cutting-edge cooking devices, and having world class manufacturing infrastructure, technology, manpower, market etc, helping in positioning as the global hub for clean cooking device manufacturing. This aligns with various India’s mission viz Go Electric, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. MECS Programme aims to closely work with the Indian Manufacturers and Clean Cooking Stakeholders to support innovation through investigations of Indian cooking and Modern Electric Cooking device requirements, pilots, sharing learnings from it’s research and connecting Indian partners with others around the world.
The Talk Series is aimed at enabling the Transition to Modern Energy in Cooking. It is first of its kind, we have identified 12 modules for the Talk series, focusing on key aspects of Cooking Devices Design & Innovation, Research & Pilot, Finance for Clean Cooking, Nutrition & Electric Cooking, Energy Cooking Access, Capacity Building, MECS Global Resources, Support for Indian Device Manufacturers, Institutional Cooking, Market Opportunities for Indian Device manufacturers and Global Market Access.
