event description

Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme is funded by UK Aid through the Department of International Development (DfID), UK. It is a partnership between researchers, innovators, policy makers, and ESMAP drawing on their expertise and relevant work from around the world to co-construct new knowledge with practitioners and the private sector. It is led by Loughborough University, UK. Finovista is In-country Partner for MECS programme in India.

We are organising our first Workshop in India, The aim of the aim of the workshop is to establish a long term partnership with India to achieve the transition from biomass to clean cooking on a global scale. In particular, we will be highlighting the tremendous business opportunities that exist for companies with the right cooking devices and business models and setting out, with our Indian partners, the support that will be provided for accessing these opportunities. The workshop will include announcements of an Award that will identify the world’s best energy efficient Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs), and a call for bids for a MECS Challenge Fund to be used to develop innovative modified cooking devices that meet the particular needs of those with lower levels of electricity access.

The Workshop would be attended by distinguished national & international speakers and delegates from the MECS Programme, India Governments, Development Agencies, Financial Institutions, Corporate Foundations, Policy Think Tanks, Experts, NGOs and Clean Cooking Device Enterprises. It is also expected to be covered by prominent Media organisations.

Given the importance of the discussions and your organisation’s keen interest on the subject, it is my pleasure to invite you for this Workshop. I am sure your insights on ways to promote Clean Cooking Services will be of immense value to the participants from the government, corporates and multilateral funding agencies.
